Customer Service Department provides informational, cultural and educational services. It is responsible for registration of new readers, provides information about the library and its activities.
Here readers can borrow and return publications, receive books stored in the depository, get consultations on how to use the electronic catalogue and free subscribed databases. Book borrowing service TBA (Interlibrary Loan) is also available allowing readers to borrow books from other libraries across Lithuania (paid service).
Customer Service Department is not only about borrowing books – here you can find Readers’ Club, which organizes cultural and educational activities that promote reading, organizes thematic and personal book exhibitions, and provides “Book to Home” service for readers who have health problems or are unable to come to the library for other reasons.
Customer Service Department has 3 reading rooms:
- Great Reading Room – a place where visitors can read current and retrospective periodicals, use internet free of change, print and copy documents (paid service). The Great Reading Room is equipped with computerized workstations with public internet access.
- Art and Music Reading Room stores and borrows printed notes, audio documents (CDs, vinyl records), and art publications. Here the Club of Classical Music Lovers organizes reviews and discussions of operas, operettas and ballets; Rimantas Vaitiekūnas’ Music Place runs educational music activities.
- American Corner familiarizes readers with the U.S. culture, economics, literature, history and promotes cultural cooperation between the two countries. Here people can find encyclopedias, English teaching literature, fiction, US history, geography, art and music books, DVDs, and the subscription of American magazines. The American Corner offers informal English lessons for students and the English club for adults, organizes various events and exhibitions, meetings with foreigners.
