Brief description of the project: The Book Presentation Contest, which has become a tradition in Šiauliai, has been going on since 1995. It is organized to raise the prestige of reading and to spread the message that the book is still relevant to young readers. This contest is an extremely inspiring way to encourage reading, creativity, critical thinking and communication skills amongst regional students. It is also important to pay attention to the versatility of the addressee of the contest as students of all ages are invited to participate. The contestants are divided into 3 age groups (grades 1-4; grades 5-8 and 9-12). Grand Prizes, thematic nominations and consolation prizes are awarded to each age group. In cooperation with the initiator of the competition – Šiauliai county Povilas Višinskis public library and local educational institutions, the libraries organize selective tours that select the participants who will travel to the final event in Šiauliai. During the competition, participants learn how to interact with the audience, listen to jury evaluations, and respect others. The form of competition is selected on a purpose – to encourage enthusiasm and excitement.
