April 25th marked the exhibition opening “Across the Ocean: A Century of Friendship between Lithuania and the United States of America” dedicated for the 100th anniversary of the restored Lithuania. This exposition reveals the pages of over a century fostered friendship between these two countries.

Charles Perrin, the Project Manager of the team that created this exhibit, opened the exhibition and kindly surprised everyone by giving his speech in Lithuanian language. According to the historian, “<…> this project has been a learning experience, both in terms of the technical aspects of creating an exhibit and the topic of the exhibit itself: friendship between Lithuania and the United States over the past century”. The exhibit features unique documents, photographs and other historiographic material, depicting the most important facts of the common history and probably less known stories about historical personalities that have shaped and influenced the relationship between Lithuania and America.

“Across the Ocean: A Century of Friendship between Lithuania and the United States of America” will be displayed in ten other locations in Lithuania this year before being housed permanently in the Valdas Adamkus Presidential Library and Museum in Kaunas. At our library this exhibition will be open until May 9.
